Meeting March 2020

Our monthly meeting for March was held on March 3rd, 2020 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Our CROs – Officer(s): Officer Morgan and Officer Scholl reported that there were no signifcant crime reports for the neighborhood for the month of February.

They reminded us that with warmer weather coming, more people will be outside and in the neighborhoods enjoying the weather. Make sure to report any suspicious activity or persons to 911.

Some streetlights, particularly on Corporate Blvd are taking a little longer to repair since they require more than just a bulb change. Some are requiring repair or replacement of ground and pole wiring.

Our guest speaker was Paula Miller with the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Expansion Project. She talked a little about the project, timeline, how work would be done. It was a very interesting talk on the tools being used, and particularly that this would be the first “bore” type tunnel in Hampton Roads, rather than an assembled tunnel. For more information, see the project information at the below websites:

Thank you to all of those who turned out for the Clean-up on February 29th!

We are still looking for a representative for the Neighborhood Watch group. If you are interested, please contact the President at [email protected]

Eastside Taskforce has been formed, and the first meeting will be held on 26th March. Stand-by for more information.

Still working the Best Thrift one-way issue. Have discussed with the CRO’s city and reviewed on Norfolk Air, and the road is actually on private property (would be considered a driveway) A letter is being drafted to the property manager with suggestions and a request for action. Copies will also be sent to City Council, Neighborhood Development, and Norfolk Public Works (Driveway permits). I Will update on any responses/status.

Next Month’s Meeting will be held April 7th, 7:30 pm Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
