Health Alert Update

As you may have seen, Governor Northam held a briefing Wednesday morning to provide updates on Virginia’s preparations for COVID-19. You can watch a video of yesterday’s briefing on the Governor’s Facebook page or read the news release here.

The best place for updates on COVID-19 continues to be the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) and CDC websites. We encourage you to visit them regularly and share these URLs with your staff and constituents.

VDH: http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/surveillance-and-investigation/novel-coronavirus/

CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/

In addition, here is the toll-free number for general coronavirus questions that Dr. Peake mentioned: 1-877-ASK-VDH3.

If you have questions about how COVID-19 might affect your districts, we encourage you to reach out to your local health director. These public health professionals not only have a great deal of experience, but they are also well-versed in issues affecting the communities they serve. You can find a list of local health districts here and contact info for the health directors here.

This is a rapidly evolving situation, so please continue to visit the VDH and CDC websites for the most up-to-date information.
